Step-1 Open 'Instagram' Application: The first step for you is to start the Instagram app in your iPhone.

The app is present in the App Gallery of your iPhone among all the other installed apps. Still, if you are not able to find it, then do the following:

  • Open the App Gallery.
  • Then, go to the 'Search Bar'.
  • Enter 'Instagram' in the search bar.
  • Press 'Enter' to find the app icon.

Step-2 Go the 'Profile' Icon: In the bottom right corner of the screen on the lower options tab, you will find your Instagram profile icon.

This icon has your Instagram profile picture, so you can easily find it.

Step-3 Tap On The Three Lines: Now, you are able to see your Instagram profile on your screen. Your profile contains:

  • Your Instagram photos.
  • Instagram bio and 'Edit profile' option.
  • Tagged photos.
  • Reels
  • Settings, and much more.

Among these, you have to click on the option with three small line on the top right corner.

Step-4 Go To 'Settings': Clicking on the three line option will take you to a list of options.

From those options, you have click on the 'Settings' option.

Step-5 Click on 'Account': The 'Settings' section here contains all the small as well as detailed settings of the Instagram app as well as you own account.

To access them, you have to click on the 'Account' section as shown in the picture.

Step-6 Tap on 'Delete Account': Now, all you have to do is scroll down in the list of the 'Account' settings.

At the bottom, you will find the 'Delete account' option. Just click on this option to move further in the process.

Step-7 Again, Tap on 'Delete Account': Then, on the screen, you will see a small description of the option that you have chosen.

If you are sure that you want to delete your Instagram account, then you have to click on the second option that says 'Delete Account'.

Step-8 Click on 'Continue Deleting Account': After reading all the instructions on your screen, click on the 'Continue Deleting Account' option from the popup notification that is present on your screen.

Step-9 Select Your Reason: Instagram asks for a reason from its users for which they are deleting their account. Some of the common reasons that are listed are:

  • Want to remove something
  • Privacy concerns
  • Too many ads
  • Can't find people to follow

You can choose the reasons that resonates with your reason.

Step-10 Fill in Your Instagram Password: In this step, you have to fill in the correct password of your Instagram account. After entering the password, you have to re-enter it to make sure that you have entered the correct one only.

Step-11 Press 'Delete' Button: After entering and re-entering your account password, you have to scroll down and press the 'Delete account' button in blue colour as shown.

Step-12 Press 'OK' Option: Finally, just click on the 'OK' button in the message that asks you 'Are you sure you want to delete your account?'.

Now, you're Instagram account is successfully deleted.

Can I Recover My Instagram Account Back After Deleting It?

It is not at all possible for anyone to recover their account back after they have permanently deleted it.

This is due to a simple reason which most of you might already be aware of. This is because once you permanently delete your Instagram account, all the data related to this account will be removed permanently from all the database of the Instagram app.

So, it becomes impossible to recover it back. You can then create a new Instagram account if you want to use it.

Is There Any Option To Temporarily Delete My Instagram Account?

There is no option or feature with which you can temporarily delete your account but the similar option if you 'Deactivate' your Instagram account.

You can deactivate your Instagram account with a similar process as above. Deactivation of your account means that you have temporarily deleted your account until you log back into it again.
