If you restrict a particular Instagram account, then that person would not get notified much about your activity even if you both are connected. Instagram does not tell that account that you have restricted them. You can also block them on Instagram just like you block/unblock someone on Facebook on your iPhone. Step-1 Go To Instagram App: You must be having the Instagram app downloaded and installed on your iPhone. Now, it's time to open it.

Simply, start the Instagram app on your iPhone to begin this process.

Step-2 Search for the Account: Then, you now have to search for that particular account that you want to restrict.

To search for the account, do the needful as follows:

  • Go to the search section of the app by clicking on the 'Search/Explore' icon from the lower tab.
  • Then, click on the 'search bar from the top of the explore section.
  • Type the username of the account that you want to restrict.
  • Then, click on 'Enter'.

Step-3 Open the Account: Now, a list will appear on your screen with all the accounts that have similar usernames as the account that you have entered.

Simply, click on that particular account that you were searching for initially.

Step-4 Tap On the Three Dots Option: On the account page of that person, you will find the three dots option as '•••'.

You have to click on this option from the top right side corner of the screen and then move forward.

Step-5 Click On 'Restrict': A list with several options will appear on your screen after you click on the three dots option in the previous step. These options are:

  • Restrict
  • Block
  • Report
  • About this Account

Step-6 Tap on the 'Dismiss' Button:

Will The Person Know if I Restrict Them on Instagram?

For your information, Instagram never notifies a person or any account if you restrict them from your account.

This means that the restricted person or the account will never know if they have been restricted by you or any other person.

Everything appears normal on their side. That account will be normally able to communicate like comment on your posts, send you messages, and view your profile like any other user.

  • The difference only comes at your end. That person would not know if you have seen their messages or not.
  • They will not be able to see if you are online or not.
  • Also, their chat will move to the Requests section in your DMs.
