Set Up Instagram Highlight Covers: 6 Steps

Step-1 Open Instagram Application: Open the application of Instagram on your mobile device and log in to your account if you're not. Go to the play store to download it if you do not have Instagram. Once you open the app and your account, you are ready to go further.

Step-2 Click on Profile Icon: Now, you see posts and stories that others post. But do not go scrolling before we set up Instagram highlight covers.

So, click on the profile icon at the bottom right corner. It looks like a miniature of your profile photo.
All the profile settings will open up from here.

Step-3 Long Press on Highlight: Just below the edit profile options, your highlights appear. Select the highlight for which you want to set up a cover. You need to long-press on the highlight to add a cover.

Step-4 Click on Edit Highlight: By long pressing the highlight, certain options pop up from the bottom of the screen. From that, choose the edit highlight option and go further.

Step-5 Edit Cover: Now, from here, you can add your past stories to your highlight, remove the ones that you do not want, and change the name of the highlight.

On top of that page, it will show your current highlight cover inside a circle.
Below that, there is an option to 'edit cover' in blue font.
Click on that.

Step-6 Choose the Image: Now, you can choose any specific story of the highlight as cover. You can even click on the gallery option and choose an image from the gallery.

Once you select the image, click on a right arrow option at the top-right.
Once you set the image properly in the circle, click on done.

Now, let us understand how to use these highlight covers. You can arrange the highlights in different categories. For instance, food, friends, family, thoughts, dances, and alike. Whenever you post a story, you can add it to the highlight as per the category.

Now, people would not know that which highlight is for which purpose before opening them.
So, to give them a quick idea about what the highlight consists of, you can add a similar cover.
For example, you can put a picture of pizza for food highlight and a picture of a dancing figure for dance.
You can even create your own highlight covers and keep a uniformity.
