How to Make Google Sheet Blank

Suppose you have entered a lot of incorrect data in your sheet, now one of the best options is to make your Google sheet blank.

Instead of removing the data one by one from all the cells, you can simply make your Google sheet blank. This way you can start afresh with your work without wasting much time. Make Google Sheet Blank in 6 Steps

Step-1 Open That Google Sheet: The first step is to open that particular Google sheet that you want to blank out or make blank.

It would obviously be an existing Google sheet in which to have previously entered some information or data. So, open it.

Step-2 Click Here Or Press ( Ctrl+A ): Then, you have to select the entire spreadsheet. There are basically two ways in which you can do this:

  • The first way is click on the option that is shown in the picture below which is red in color.
  • Or, another way is to press 'Ctrl+ A' on your keyboard. This is the shortcut key to select the entire spreadsheet.

Step-3 Choose The 'Format' Menu Tab: After selecting your entire Google spreadsheet, you have to go to the top of your spreadsheet. Then, tap on the 'Format' button from there.

Step-4 Click On 'Merge Cells': Just below the Font size option, you will find another option that says 'Merge cells.

You have to tap this 'Merge cells' option now. It will merge all the cells into a single cell.

Step-5 Click on 'Merge all': Again, you will see four options in the right panel of the list menu. These options are:

  • Merge all
  • Merge vertically
  • And, Merge horizontally
  • Unmerge

Simply click on the first option which says 'Merge all' to merge all the cells of the spreadsheet into a single cell.

Step-6 Your Sheet is Now Completely Blank: The final output that you would see is a completely blank spreadsheet with just a single cell.

How Can I Make a Cell Blank in Google Sheets Without a Value?

It's absolutely possible to make a cell blank in Google Sheets even without a value.

You can do this with the help of the IF Statement. It works in the following ways:

  • The purpose of IF statement is to instruct the cell to show up blank when the inventory item is blank.
  • If the cell inventory is not blank then it shows the SUMIF formula.
  • In layman's terms, it works in the following way- 'If C2 is blank then blank, otherwise SUMIF.'
  • Then, you can just drag your formula down, or copy and paste for each cell in that column to enter new values into that cell.

Is There Any Other Way To Make Blank Cells Empty in Google Sheets?

There is one alternative to the above process in which you can make the blank cells empty in your Google sheet.

Let's find out how:

  • First of all, select the entire data of your sheet.
  • Then, tap on the 'Data' tab.
  • After that, just click on the 'Create a Filter' option.
  • Click on the filter icon in any of the columns. This icon is like a small upward-facing arrow.
  • Now, i the drop-down list, click on 'Clear'.
  • Then, choose the 'Blank' option from here.
  • Finally, click on 'OK'.

How Can I Change 0 to Blank in Google Sheets?

This is not a very common or usual process and also not many people know about it. You can also find and replace text in Google sheets.
