Step 1 - Open the Google Sheets App to Change Case in Google Sheet: After you’ve opened the google sheets app, go to the existing spreadsheet in which you want to make the text case changes.

Step 2 - Tap on Any Cell: A pop-up will display at the bottom of the sheet when you tap on any cell in the sheet. The pop-up will have a spot to enter the text in the selected cell.

  • There are three formulas in Google Sheets that change the case of the text:
  1. UPPER – this function changes the case of the text.
  2. LOWER – this function lowers the case of the text.
  3. PROPER – this function changes the case of the text.

Step 3 - Type Upper in ''enter text'' Area: Select UPPER and enter the string-like =UPPER(B3), this will convert that text present in B3 to uppercase format.

  • Since all information on sheets is usually written in upper case, doing this step will save you some time in the long run.

Step 4 - Type Proper in ''enter text'': Area Select PROPER and enter the string-like =PROPER(B3). This will convert the first letter of each word in B3  into Capital letter format.

  • Users frequently forget to change the first letter of a word to a capital letter while entering data. Thus, this function will come in handy when they make this typical error.

Step 5 - Type Lower in ''enter text'' Area:  Select LOWER  and enter the string-like =LOWER(B3), this will convert the text present in B3 to lowercase format.
